On behalf of the faculty and staff of the Guthrie Gastroenterology 研究员hip Training Program, we welcome your interest in our program. The goal of this fellowship is to train clinicians who will strive for excellence, patient-centeredness and teamwork as they practice in the field of Gastroenterology.
Guthrie program offers comprehensive experience in the clinical practice of Gastroenterology. Based in an integrative, multi-specialty group practice health care system, this three-year program is designed to facilitate exposure to a wide array of clinical care in Gastroenterology. We offer a broad experience in both outpatient and inpatient settings caring for patients from Northern 宾西法尼亚 and Southern 纽约, caring for patients ranging from primary GI care to tertiary care. The program also is designed to facilitate comprehensive experience in endoscopy, with ample exposure to diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. In addition, experience in advanced techniques including ERCP and EUS is available.
The faculty consists of 7 Board Certified Gastroenterologists who perform approximately 6,000 upper GI endoscopies, 10,000年结肠镜检查, 300年内镜逆行胰胆管造影, 400 EUS studies per year in addition to esophageal motility studies, pH testing and breath hydrogen analyses.
The Donald Guthrie Foundation also provides infrastructure for fellow participation in both investigator initiated and sponsored research within the Department of Gastroenterology. Further, the Foundation provides small grant support to investigator-initiated projects.

Our mission is to provide a scholarly training environment for fellows to develop into clinical gastroenterologists and clinical investigators. In addition to providing outstanding clinical training, we strive to provide the scientific foundation necessary to foster the development of our trainees into independent physician-scientists. 为了达到这些目标, our program is structured for trainees to achieve appropriate medical knowledge and procedural skills in the field of digestive diseases, as well as to develop the interpersonal and communication skills and professional attitudes necessary to function as highly competent subspecialists in this field.
